BOOK REVIEW - “WORLD'S BEST BOYFRIEND” BY DURJOY DATTA

BOOK REVIEW - World's Best Boyfriend” BY Durjoy Datta

It is a very interesting story that is spread across the world of two adult teens, Dhruv and Aranya who hate each other. Something that happened back in school has drifted them away from each other and given birth to a hate so intense that one’s misery makes the other person smile.

A fine lad ‘Dhruv’, a scared girl ‘Aranya’, domestic issues, their lives entwined with bonds of love and hate but what will stretch them far or what is it that will bring them back together. Fate brings them together in college again. However, being grownups does not change anything. They still want to hurt each other badly. This leads to a war between them where both of them keep looking for chances to go after each other’s throat, still this story manages to take the readers into a journey filled with laughter, heartbreaks, love and other stuff almost every person must have gone through in their college times.

The entire sanctity of the troubled domestic issues and personal rifts being lost in the haze of volley of expletives and random nitpicking on each other. There's no agenda at hand when it comes to the girl's disease so much so that it is wrapped up even before it folds. The characters playing hide and seek which again looks abrupt and hollow and the shallow machismo of Dhruv relying on muscles and porn and masturbation and alcohol is a huge turn off.

Are the bonds sacred or are they scattered and tattered pieces of nothingness? It's a fight for survival in a cruel world, who will live up to the expectations? The robust angry Dhruv or the shy and pompous Aranya? That's what the story is all about.
Yet, there is something that tells them: This is not it.

 Now my Positive viewpoints:

The positives of the story that demanded a lot from the reader can be the mental and physical stand -off between Dhruv & Aranya. A godly friend and enemy in Sanchit, a story bathed in the college hues and horizon and the struggle to get your priorities right in live be it love, life or career. Only few of these things catch the attention.

 Some suggestive points:

Overall the book is not impressive as the past ones, may be the climax of World’s Best Boyfriend could have been altered. Or maybe, the story should not have proceeded as it did because there is a lot more than that there's no concrete line of decency and expletives drive the book.

 Final words:

Overall if asked I would say... the book hell bent on recreating the yesteryear magic of college and romance is an entirely pauper attempt. The only riches you grab out from the book are scanty and rest relies heavily on crude and intolerable maniacal story line. A lot more than that there's no concrete line of decency and expletives drive the book. A failed attempt at humor and a bigger failure at letting romance be sensual or starry eyed. “An old wine in a new bottle with a wrong combo” .“World's Best Boyfriend” BY Durjoy Datta … I would give 2 stars to this book.

Be Still My Heart...!!!

Be Still My Heart...!!!

I can feel it’s' rapid pace.
The excitement has come over me.
I'm flushed, all in the face.
Your rhapsody, it has taken hold of me;
And this Euphoria, I don't think it'll ever stop.
Be Still, Be Still, my quivering heart,
As, I don't want anyone to get the fact away
That I’m head over heel, going, absolutely, crazy,
For that smile you might give, the kind words you might say,
For those moments, when time, just, stills, and we look at each others face,
Falling, into each other, slowly, breathing, into our souls,
Taking in your essence, for, any piece of you I can hold,
Capture, it is, most precious to me.
I cannot let you see the fervours, veracity, of our love;
So, be still, my heart, thus, that you may hide
The volume, of our love, the feelings inside you.
Be still my heart; Close your eyes,
Be Still! Be Still! Be Still.

Book Review- “Silenced by Love” BY Katherine Abraham

Book Review- “Silenced by Love” BY Katherine Abraham

It is a very interesting story that is spread across three cities, two countries and spanning six years. It is a heart-rending saga of love that rises above the boundaries of country, culture and time. As a young Indian mother undertakes a long and arduous journey through the streets of Lahore and Karachi to the beautiful and mystical Naran to search for a love that once left her in the wilderness, all for the sake of her dying six-year-old child Zunairah, the questions remain: will hope prevail in the midst of the storm, will love endure the test of time; will destiny give the young couple a new lease to love?

It is a heartening tale of Sarah and Zaid. Years ago when Sarah’s love left her with a child in tow, Sarah did not look back to curse her luck. Now, as she finally begins to embrace life with both hands as a single independent mother destiny reveals its own plans. Standing on the crossroads of their life, Zaid and Sarah must make a decision as time come a full circle again. Manoeuvring through life’s turbulent seas, will these soul-mates be re-united by their young child or will their own egoistic, foolish pride come in the way of reconciliation. Will life ever be the same again? That's what the story is all about.

This is a beautifully woven story of Sarah and Zaid, whose rendezvous in Goa changes the entire course of their life. The story takes its readers on an emotional and romantic rollercoaster. Chance encounters, in this book, yield the power to turn tides. The picturesque locales of Goa and Naran provide a visual treat as well.

The fate of the star-crossed lovers takes an overhaul as the bitter truth of Zaid’s past reveals itself. As the lovers part ways, they realise they have been silenced by love for the rest of their lives.
But life is a storehouse of surprises. Just when Zaid and Sarah begin to think that they’ve moved on with their lives, they are jolted by a tumultuous wind force whose ferocity wrecks their life.

Love and loyalty wage war throughout, and the brunt is borne by three individuals who suffer in silent isolation. Zaid, Sarah and Siham have all fallen prey to misunderstandings and cease to emerge out of their wallowing until little bundles of joy are bestowed on them. The children bring a new spark of vigor to their lives, bringing hearts closer from across the border.

The story-telling strikes a chord and it seems as if the lines have been exquisitely crafted, leaving you wanting to highlight major portion of the book. And then the book is interspersed by some beautiful couplets by Rumi, like this one, leave you mulling over their deeper meaning: “They say there is a doorway from heart to heart, but what is the use of a door when there are no walls?”

Now my Positive viewpoints:

The story echoes the tale of many a hearts, and for that reason, is very relatable. The plot grips you well, not allowing you to put the book down till you are at the last page. This is a book that every reader who likes to read a good romantic fiction will want to add to his/her shelf.

Some suggestive points:

Overall the book is good and very well expressed. However, little less description about Goa and trips would have worked in favour of the story. As too much description about places makes the reader lose interest in the book.

Final words:

Overall if asked I would say...this is a good read that manages to keep the readers engrossed. The story doesn't ramble out of its steeds rather sticks to the basics and carve out an memorable and pulsating experience of the book by Author (Katherine Abraham) … I would give 4 stars to this book.
