Can you tell us a little about yourself? Your profession and your hobbies!!

Questionnaire with Shilpi Signodia

How did you first get involved in with writing, are you an imaginative person?

I am writing for last nine years professionally. But, it was in me during school days itself. I always enjoyed writing creatively. Yeah, I am imaginative plus narrative.

What do you find most challenging about your writing?

The start, I find it challenging. A story should have a good start then it automatically moves forward.

What do you do when you are not writing?

I sleep. I love to explore and surf with people. I read biographies when I don’t write.

Where do you see yourself in the next 6 months, and 5 years down the road?

I don’t know where I will be tomorrow, so talking about 6 months or 5 years is too much. But, I desire to write more and more books, to share my experiences with people. I hope my future works will be more improved and would be liked by many. In next year or two, I want to be a known author in the market.

How do you keep coming up with material/content for your story?

It's my experiences and observations, that helps me to build the content of a story.

Any specific tips you have for new writers who want to make it big in the world of published books?
Before entering into this field, I thought writing a book is more than enough, after that, it sells on its own. I was very wrong, writing a script is just one thing, next step should be editing and search for a good publisher who will help you in marketing. Marketing is crucial in this business.

What’s the best thing a writer can give to his readers?

His experience. A writer speaks through his books, and if his experience could benefit even a single reader, then the purpose of the book is accomplished.

A lot of people are interested in writing for the money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making money from writing? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can be made?
Writing and money making, oh is it possible, please let me know too. For making money the book has to be a bestseller, and for that you to work on marketing as much as possible. I would suggest instead of choosing self-publishing and investing money on publishing the book, go for traditional press and invest in marketing that would reap better results.

What motivates you most in life?
It’s life that motivates me. So many ups downs, there is so much life teaches us. Accept it as it is, and get motivated.

The majority of the readers tend to take sides due to religion and such other considerations?

A reader I think is just a reader. It’s their choice and wishes to select which author or book they would like to read. We are nobody to judge their choice.

What is the story behind the name of your book?

The name Hangover is very apt for my story. Because my leading lady Sneha has the hangover of her love and which is being presented in this book.

What are your views on increasing plagiarism?

For a writer, plagiarism is a crime. If things are copy pasted then one cannot claim it to be their work.
