The questionnaire with Versha Gupta
1. How did you first get involved in with writing,
are you an imaginative person?
I must thank my parents and the almighty for writing is God gifted
to me. I
never thought about writing before, but then later I realised I was unknowingly
already into writing.
When I began expressing feelings through words, someone told me that
I write beautiful poems and I got involved more and more into writing. After
that, my new journey as an author started in 2016 with my first novel "Safar Reshmi Sapno Ka".
A writer writes depending on the surroundings he/she gets. I always pen about the truths of our life. Still, sometimes I also apply my imagination to let my words reach
readers well with the same feelings and emotions.
2. What do you find most challenging about your
writing?
I haven’t taken writing as a challenge ever. But yeah, whenever I write
any story then sometimes I don’t get to the ending. It’s kind of writer’s block, you can
say. But then, after I give it a break and restart writing after a few days, then
it gets completed. They say, “A writer has to take some break before writing the end to come up with
a good story.”
3. What do you do when you are not writing?
When I am not writing, then I am into some creative work or into learning
something new. Sometimes I do drawing.
4. Where do you see yourself in the next 6 months,
and 5 years down the road?
At first, I want to complete part 2 of my novel which I am writing and
to publish it. In 5 years, I want to grow my reader base who read my books, understand
and learn. Else, there is no reason for a writer to write if it doesn’t reach readers
and win their hearts.
5. How do you keep coming up with material/content
for your story?
I get inspiration to write from my Papa. For me, writing is love. Its also my readers who motivate
me to write
more and more.
6. Any specific tips you have for new writers who want
to make it big in the world of published books?
To be specific, I want to tell them that whatever you write, just write
from your heart. Write as much you like. Don’t hurry to get published. Give it some time to
make it mature writing. Read more books. Only then publish your book. Best wishes!
7. What's the best thing a writer can give to his
readers?
If any word or message of a writer can bring happiness or positivity
in someone’s life or benefit the society and the nation for good, then there is
no other best gift than this to a writer.
8. A lot of people are interested in writing for the
money earning potential. What are some tips for people interesting in making
money from writing? What are some realistic expectations in regards to what can
be made?
If you write for money, then it will end up being your profession only.
This is a gift. Write for society. Write for the country. Write for yourself.
The writers do not just live own
life, but they live with everyone’s love and for everyone.
God has given us this beautiful gift. We should respect that.
9. What motivates you most in life?
I strongly believe that “Failure comes only when we give up” and it always
keeps motivating
me.
10. Describe your writing schedule. Do you outline?
I am a homemaker
and also a
teacher and there are many responsibilities, so I write when I
am done with other works. To be
precise, I mostly write at night and early in the morning.
11. What is the story behind the name of your book?
At first, I, my brother, my sister and a few friends made a long list
of names for my book. Then we did odd-one-out and finally came up with the title
“Safar Reshmi Sapno Ka” suggested by my brother “Rohan”. Because through “Safar
Reshmi Sapno Ka”, I wanted to convey how difficult and full of struggle the journey
of dreams actually is.
12. What are your views on increasing plagiarism?
Those who don’t believe in themselves, maybe they do such a thing. Stealing/copying
others’ work without permission and lying to everyone is not smartness. Will they
be able to maintain their dignity in their own eyes?
